Today I looked at some movie openings to get a bit of inspiration for the camera work and mise en scene for my movie opening. I looked at around 20 openings but I really liked Scream (1996), Children of Men (2006), American Psycho (2000), The Matrix (1999), The Godfather (1972) and my absolute favorite was Trainspotting (1996). I liked it not only because the movie itself it's a masterpiece but also because now I am capable to analyze movie clips and their meaning, camera shots, angles, editing and mise en scene, and now one of my favorite movies just got a lot more interesting from a different point of view. What I really liked is the use of dynamic camera movements and editing techniques. I really liked that the camera follows the protagonist, as he sprints through the streets which makes you feel like you're there with him and everything is very urgent and chaotic. Very quick cuts and unconventional angles, immersing the audience into the character's chaotic world of addiction and rebellion.
